Looking for the latest fashion in Puerto Penasco (Mexico) or perhaps looking for the perfect mexican dress?
If you were to ask most working people in Rocky Point (Penasco), they will tell you that the majority of the time they buy their clothes outside of Penasco. People travel to Phoenix, Tucson or surrounding areas where there are big shopping malls. However, there are many stores in Penasco that offer a big selection of clothing items and shoes.
A big chain in Penasco is Coppel. This store is similar to a Target in the States where you will find not only clothes but also electronics, furniture, etc. It is well priced.
Downtown Penasco has many boutiques that carry up to date fashion. Most of the boutiques are truly for women but there are a few for men.
If you are looking for fun and nice beach clothes, you can go to Surforever. This store has beachwear from shorts, sandals, bathing suits, etc...
Do not forget to visit The Malecon shops by the old port. They have made so many improvements to that side of town. At the Malecon shops you can find any souvenir or specialty mexican sweets you want, along with many mexican art and decoration pieces. You can also find many mexican style clothings and pareos!
Rodeo Drive is by far the most popular shopping area along with the Malecon shops. This main street was once all dirt and now they have paved the entire road right in front of each vendor. You can find furniture pieces, very affordable and unique decorations, T-shirts, food and candy, etc....It is worth the visit!
Once a year, there are vendors from Huajaca (Mexico) that visit Rocky Point between May and July. These vendors have clothing items that are perfect for the hot weather. The type of clothing they sell is considered "resort wear" and most are made of "hilo" (linen). They also have jewelry from the region. Many people in Penasco purchase clothing from them as they get ready for the hot season.
One interesting and popular store in Penasco is the Manny's Leather Factory. You can find pretty unique pieces if you are looking for leather items such as leather jackets with hand turned leather fringes, lambswool jackets, suede and leather jackets with silver and turquoise accents and hand beating, and many more. They offer a layaway plan but this is probably limited to locals (they make custom order pieces!!!). This store is located in the blue building at the corner of Blvd. Benito Juarez and Calle 12.
