Easter Week, a favorite destination Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point)!

(Easter week 2012 April 1-8)

Easter, is sort of like Christmas one the most important festivities of the Christian liturgical year. According to the Gospels, Jesus rose on the third day after his crucifixion. His Resurrection is celebrated during Passover or Easter Sunday also known as Resurrection Day or Resurrection Sunday. The week before this Easter weekend is also known as Holy Week, in which mainly takes place the first holiday of the school calendar and in some organizations Thursday thru Sunday as well.

Holy week is a holiday that is ever changing year after year. The dates of this Holy Christian Week are calculated according to the Gregorian calendar and the dates can vary between April 4th and May 8th.

In México is common for people to take advantage of these days for a family trip. Since, during this time it concurs with the beginning of spring, beach destinations regularly receive a large number of visitors during these dates. Rocky Point has become a favorite spot for vacationers from neighboring states such as Chihuahua, Baja California as well as Sonora.

During this week, Rocky Point lives a party that begins early in the morning at its hundreds of restaurants, shops and public squares, most of the people concentrate themselves at the Old Port where they can enjoy a wide variety in food and shopping at one the many local crafts shops. During the night you will enjoy an incredible atmosphere at any of the restaurants, bars or night clubs. As you decide to stroll around the Old port you will be able to enjoy traditional music bands of the region. Needless to say of the great family atmosphere that exists in each of the Resorts, which are prepared with special activities during this time to welcome families that would like to enjoy the first sunny days of the year overlooking the marvelous Sea of Cortes. If you are thinking of making your Easter vacation in Rocky Point, we strongly advise of making your Reservation well ahead of time, since during this time all the Resorts get booked months in advance and the occupancy is 100%.
