Shuttle services
We are looking to update this page with the latest information about Shuttle services available. Over the last few months many have gone out of business and others have surfaced. Look for more information in a few weeks or send us a note at info@puerto-penasco.com
I've been on the lookout for a good shuttle service for years, and then sometime in the middle of 2005 it seemed as if a new one was starting to pop up every week. I'll introduce you to a few:
In the smaller, more 'chartered' category, there's the new www.headouttorockypoint.com, also running 15-person vans to Penasco out of Phoenix. They'll take your party of four or more and (from what I understand) act as a sort of tour guide while you're there.
Another shuttle service is www.konashuttle.com, which offers $179 roundtrip fares from Tucson and Phoenix in their Mercedes-Benz mini coaches. They're based out of Phoenix and also offer 'meet and greet's at all airports, including the Scottsdale airpark. They are also a relatively new startup, so we'll keep an eye on them for the future.
Motasplace.com runs passenger-class vans out of Phoenix to Puerto Penasco, Caborca, Lukeville, and Sonoyta, and it looks like they have also started renting cars. You might want to check out their schedule. I am not sure where their dropoff point is, but you can always call them and check.
(Mota's Place was, ah, indicted on a bunch of federal charges in August 2008. I'm going to go ahead and assume this means they're not running shuttles to Puerto Peñasco anymore.)
Flying into PenascoIf you haven't read our writeup on flying into Penasco, you should check it out. Sure, it's a little costly, but you fly over some of the beautiful Sonoran desert, you cut your transport time into a few hours, and you get to enjoy chartering your own plane.
Renting a carOf course, there's also the option of renting a car - in the last few years many agencies have opened up their rental policies to let people drive cars to Puerto Penasco.
